KNÄCKE films...
Street Theater
Following in the footsteps of the old film pioneers of the 1920s, Knäcke travels through cities in his three-wheeled vehicle, always on the lookout for talent. Firmly convinced that anyone can become a star, he attempts to shoot a silent movie using a hand-crank camera.
In a flash, the pedestrian zone is transformed into a filming location and the audience forms a village square "somewhere in Switzerland". Without words and with the immortal charm of the silent film era, Knäcke draws the audience into his spell. Soon, the border between being a spectator and taking part in the film dissolve. Grandpa's cinema comes alive again and the pictures learn to walk.
However, the path to filmmaking is full of obstacles, a seemingly random but skillful floundering through mishaps, star cult behavior, stunts, and special effects.
Knäcke is camera operator, technician, prop master all in one. He bravely prances through the scenery and keeps everything under control, despite the threat of chaos and abandonment of filming.
Knäcke films is a theater piece for the street with the involvement of the audience.
